Last week was Restaurant Week here in Chicago, it takes place every year when all the fanciest restaurants in town offer a $32 tasting menu. It is a pretty amazing concept and it is one of those things that I read about each year but never take advantage of. As luck would have it, timing worked out perfectly and I booked us a reservation at Japonais at 5:30 pm for Sunday. We felt like we were going to an early bird special, but in ironed clothes. The food was good but not great, the cocktails on the other hand were delicious but ridiculously over-priced.
After that, we went and had a few more drinks at the bar next door before heading over to the new fancy movie theater, Icon. For those of you who haven't heard of this, there are now movie theaters with cocktails, gourmet food and comfortable armchairs to sit in. I must admit that I was dubious of it, seeing as I balk at matinee prices, but it was pretty luxurious and a nice addition to our date night.
In other news, Ethan just got his school portraits done. And after getting them back, I couldn't help but to think that he really looks like a boy now. He is talking so much now and is able to put together complete sentences with some interesting observations, his new favorite thing is finding words that rhyme. We can have now have conversations, albeit short ones, but the leaps and bounds in his language skills over the past six months have been pretty astounding.
The other day B and I were discussing whether or not we would have a baby together. I think B's knee jerk reaction is to say no, we already have our hands full with Ethan, which is very true. And part of me would be completely ok with just one, but there is another part of me that thinks that it would wonderful to go through the experience of having a baby together. Time will tell, there are many pros and cons to think about and there is also a wedding to plan.
Speaking of, planning is going fairly well. We looked at two more places this past weekend, and thought that both of them were the best ones that we have seen so far. We are leaning more towards one then the other, so hopefully we will have made a decision and have set a date very soon. We also have someone to marry us! Our good friend Nathan spent some time this past weekend on the interwebs and is now officially able to preside over us. Pretty awesome. Things are shaping up nicely.
